| Pioneer of Modernism | |||
| After fully exposed to cubism and modern art movement during his sojourn to Europe, Shakir Ali returned to Pakistan in 1951, fully charged to cause a stir, stimulate a new urge and set afresh direction. this was time, when Pakistan had just gained independence and nation was going through the traumatic experience of the unprecedented holocaust. Despite an eerie of silence that prevailed, the sparks of rebellion were discernible. The legacies of traditional art forms and cliché-ridden formats had not yet left the ground. In spite of challenging perspective, Shakir Ali managed to find strength in the renewal of the newly find energies. He initiated a process of exploration, experimentation and innovation. He became the GOD father to all the lost souls and the rest less and lot of artists who were desperately longing for a fresh vocabulary to give vent to their creative expression. He became an ignition point through which exploded the nucleus of creativity in Pakistan. He launched a movement and became the symbol of sureness and an awareness of the time. |
